Sport: Croquet
Croquet competitions may be played as singles or doubles, with one-ball, two-ball, or handicap formats. Players use mallets to guide their balls through hoops in a prescribed order, with success depending on precision, tactical placement, and efficient progress through the course.
At Paris 1900, the Olympic croquet programme included open singles and doubles events. The open category allowed both men and women to compete, an unusual feature for the era.
