Singles

Singles is the tennis discipline in which one player competes against one opposing player in direct head-to-head matches. Final placings are determined through the results of individual matches within the tournament structure, rewarding technical skill, consistency, and match endurance. In the early Olympic era, singles events were played under less standardized competitive conditions than in the modern game, but they already reflected the core structure of one-versus-one tennis.
