Rifle

Rifle is the shooting discipline contested with shoulder-fired firearms, in which competitors aim at fixed targets over set distances and are ranked by total score. The discipline emphasizes precision, steadiness, and consistency across repeated shots. Early Olympic rifle events used less standardized rules and equipment than the modern sport, but already reflected the core principles of precision long-gun shooting.
