Fencing
Sabre is the fencing discipline contested with a light cutting-and-thrusting weapon in which touches may be scored with both the edge and the point. Unlike foil and épée, sabre has traditionally emphasized speed, initiative, and attacking tempo, with conventions of priority used to determine the valid scorer when actions are simultaneous. In Olympic fencing, sabre is known for its fast exchanges, aggressive tactics, and distinct target rules, which in early editions could differ from modern practice.
