Discipline at this olympiad

Foil

Foil is the fencing discipline contested with a light thrusting weapon in which touches score only on a restricted target area of the torso. It developed as a training weapon for classical fencing and is governed by conventions of priority, which determine which fencer is awarded the touch when both appear to land simultaneously. In Olympic competition, foil emphasizes precision, timing, technical control, and tactical management of right-of-way.
